Spent Memorial Day weekend at Northern Lights Resort. It was fantastic. The resort owners are amazing, laid back, service oriented people. The cabin was clean, orderly, and functional. Nestled in a quiet bay of Dead Lake, we enjoyed a lot of fishing and Kayaking. They bay was essential as the wind made fishing on the main part of the lake too difficult to bother. During our trip, the crappies weren't biting as expected, but we caught a lot of Northern (all small) that were hitting the lines hard and often. THis was our first trip to this resort, and we rebooked for next year.

My wife and I spent an enjoyable week at Northern Lights Resort on Dead Lake in Ottertail County, MN. We stayed in cabin 9, which was very comfortable and roomy. The kitchen was adequately stocked (you never know so we've learned to bring essential cookware and measuring utensils just in case). The beds were comfortable with plenty of room to walk around. The view of the lake was spectacular as we arrived just as the fall colors were peaking. The resort is easy to reach by car and is located on a small, sheltered bay, making docking our boat easy-even when winds were a bit stiff. There is a nice boat launch right at the resort-very convenient. The fishing was very good for largemouth bass, northern pike, and sunfish. We also caught a few nice crappies and a few smaller walleyes. There were as many small sunfish around the docks to keep small kids entertained as long as their interest lasts and larger sunfish that bit tiny crankbaits a little deeper. The weather was cool, overcast, and windy the week we were there but we dressed appropriately and fished every day except Friday due to thunderstorms. Instead we took a drive in the area and visited Maplewood State Park, where we hiked a beautiful trail. When we left, the resort had a boat decontamination station free for use by guests. Highly recommended.

Truly beautiful. Immaculate resort on a lovely lake. Modern cabins with thoughtful amenities made Northern Lights feel like home away from home. You can tell that the owners genuinely care about their guests. Enjoyed the sights and sounds of local wildlife and stargazing well into the night. Exceeded expectations - will definitely be back.

We can't say enough great things about Northern Lights Resort! We are tent campers who stayed for our 2nd year and already booked again for next year. Karen and Mark are wonderful hosts and create a welcoming place to stay with our pups. The shower house and entire campground are very well kept/clean with great amenities. We look forward to making this our yearly go-to vacation spot! :-)

I brought my kids to Northern Lights for one last fishing trip during MEA. We weren't planning on fishing the first day. But, my daughter went out to the dock anyways. Caught a bass, sunfish, northern one after another. My son got jealous and ran out there. Instantly caught a walleye off the dock! The fishing boat we rented ran great. Mark gave excellent instruction of the lake, and was very accommodating. It was an amazing trip. We're planning on coming back next year.
